How to buy

I’m not a faceless online shop….. I’m an artist who believes that if you’re willing to part with your cash for my art, the least I can do is offer you a good, person-to-person service.

If you’ve already visited my gallery and selected the piece(s) in which you’re interested:

Orders for original paintings

  • Head over to my contact page. Fill out the form, including your location and selected piece(s)
  • I’ll use the information you send to calculate the best delivery option and email you a quotation. There won’t be any obligation to buy and I won’t be offended if you choose not to.
  • If you decide to go ahead and you’re buying an original, I may offer you a ‘virtual visit’ to my studio, via video call, so you can see the piece(s) you’re buying. This step is entirely optional, for your peace of mind, and you’re welcome to decline it.
  • I’ll email you an invoice, with a link to make a secure online payment.
  • On receipt of your payment, I’ll arrange the delivery and keep you informed throughout, until your new art is safely with you.

Print-only orders

  • Use the contact page to provide your mailing address and select the print(s) you’d like to buy.
  • I’ll email you an invoice, with a link to make a secure online payment.
  • On receipt of payment, I’ll arrange delivery and keep you informed on progress.

Returns Policy

Sometimes we all buy something online, only to change our mind when it arrives. If you wish to return an online order to me, I completely understand.

To qualify for a refund, you must notify me within 14 days of having received the item(s) and then return the item(s), undamaged, within another 14 days. I will aim to refund the value of your original order, minus any delivery cost I incurred in sending the item(s) to you, within 14 days of receiving them back. Evidence of my shipping costs can be provided, if required. Should a returned item arrive back with me in an un-sellable condition or fail to arrive at all, I will not be able to refund you. I’d therefore recommend you use a tracked parcel service, with sufficient insurance to cover your loss, in these cases.

Please note that I don’t accept returns for commissioned artworks. Returns are also not accepted for pieces bought from me in-person or from a gallery, shop or other venue, where you saw the physical item(s) before purchasing.

Commissions

I don’t actively advertise commissions but I am open to them. Accepting a commission really depends on my availability at the time and whether or not the requested piece feels like something I can work with.

If I don’t feel I can help you myself, I’ll happily recommend another artist, if I can. Please note too, that I no longer take commissions for digital art.

My commission process is:

  • Please send your initial request via my contact form, outlining what you’d like. Please provide as much detail as you can, including the size you’d like and the budget you’re working to. It may help if you review the prices of originals on my gallery for different types and sizes of work, as a guide.
  • I’ll reply as soon as possible with a ‘ball-park’ figure and may offer you a video/voice call to discuss further. I don’t charge for consultation time as it’s good for me to get to know my customers and better understand what they’re looking for.
  • If we mutually agree to proceed, I’ll send you an itemised quotation with anticipated payment stages and any applicable delivery charges.
  • Should you accept the quotation, payments will be requested in non-refundable instalments for each of the following stages:
    • Sketches – a flat fee for each set of sketches/revisions.
    • Starting the painting – 20% of the painting’s final cost
    • Painting at 50% completion – 30% of the final cost
    • Painting complete and ready for delivery – 50% of the final cost + any applicable delivery fees.

Inspire Me

Don’t like the idea of committing to a commission? Maybe consider this option instead. If you know my work and have something in mind you’d love to see me paint, please use the ‘I’m hoping to inspire you with an idea‘ option on my contact form to tell me about it.

If I decide to use the idea, I’ll confirm this to you. When the painting is complete, I’ll give you first refusal on buying it and hold it for you, for up to two weeks, while you decide. If it’s not for you, that’s no problem, I’ll just put it up for general sale. So, think of this option as being a little like a commission, but without any commitment on your part.

Where to view my work

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably already seen the gallery page on this website. I keep this regularly updated with finished pieces so do please come again.

Other places are:

  • My Instagram and Facebook pages, are a great place to follow my works in progress, news and nonsense.
  • Maybe you’d like to bookmark my exhibitions page for current and future opportunities to see my work in person.
  • As above in the ‘how to buy’ section, ‘virtual visits’ to my studio may be offered to those intending to buy my originals.

Q&A

Use the posts below to ask any ‘public’ questions that you think other visitors might also like to know about. I will respond to all questions as soon as I can.

Please note that all comments are moderated and don’t make the thread without my approving them. As a result, there will be a delay before your comments appear. As with any other thread-based chat platforms, please be respectful.
